Bonsai - Japanese Maple Setting
2 year old Japanese Maple Forrest Setting
Japanese Maples are some of the most dazzling species of Bonsai and are widely popular thanks to their brilliantly coloured fall foliage and ease of care. These compact trees offer a moderate growth habit that slows with age. The broadly spreading crown features layered branching with the signature palm-shaped leaves.
Unlike some other bonsai specimens, Japanese maple bonsai are great for beginners and do not require as much care and skill to keep happy.
Japanese maple refers to the tree's native habit of Japan. Japanese maple grows in Japan, central China and Korea. It has been long cultivated by the Japanese. The tree was introduced to England in 1820.
Japanese Maple Bonsai thrive in sunny and airy locations, but when temperatures are above 30 degrees, it should be placed somewhere with indirect sunlight to prevent the sun from damaging the leaves as it will burn
A Japanese Maple Bonsai must be watered daily during the growing season. During winter and the cooler months it's a good idea to feel the soil to determine if it needs water. The soil should be slightly damp but never bone dry.
