For the past 14 years David Patzwald has been a professional Bonsai Artist and
Instructor. His keen interest in bonsai started at an early age when he learnt the age-old principles of this beautiful Japanese art form. He is a keen member of many bonsai groups and has participated in many exhibitions.
So what is bonsai? Quite simply, it is an ornamental tree or shrub grown in a shallow clay pot. Bonsai can be literally translated in Japanese as 'tray planting'. In reality it is much more than that.....bonsai can be seen as a blend of art and horticulture. As a wise man once said, "Don't try to make your tree look like a bonsai - try to make your bonsai look like a tree".
